Prime Tropics has had a bumpy ride this past year. While mainstream products like citrus, apples and avocados have enjoyed strongsales since the onset of coronavirus, the Guatemalan tropicals specialist has experienced a notable drop in demand for its products. Things are gradually picking up, however, says Edilson Hernandez, who believes that consumers will rediscover their tastefor the exotic as they seek new ways of boosting their immune systems and ward off the virus."It's well known that citrus, including our finger lime, contains a large amount of vitamin C, but other fruits such as rambutan also contain similarly high levels, as well as antioxidants that help strengthen the immune system," he tells Fresh Focus Latin America. "We also produce fruit such as mangosteen that is famous for its exceptionally high levels of xanthones, a rich source of antioxidants that have been shown to have many health and medicinal properties."
