The Minerals Education Coalition (MEC) served more than 700 educators from 23 states at the 2017 Milwaukee National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) area conference. MEC worked with SME members, local SME chapters and other local mining and geoscience organizations and student groups to provide free rock and mineral samples, posters and local educational resources to K-12 educators. One thousand rock and mineral kits were distributed to more than 700 teachers.
