摘要

Abstract: In 2015, we published a book (Cano Sanchiz 2015) on the English exploitation of the Cerro Muriano Mine (Cordoba, Spain) during the first two decades of the 20th century, which completed seven years of industrial archaeological research on that site. Because that monograph and most of our papers on the topic were published in Spanish, our results have had little impact on the international academic community. For this reason, and also to address the requests of many colleagues, the main aim of this article is to recapitulate, summarise and present to an international (English speaking) audience the main conclusions and advances in knowledge of our previous works on the mining and metallurgy of Cerro Muriano during the Contemporary Age. The research revealed that the mining and metallurgical sectors grew worldwide under a strong international interaction in that period. And this, ultimately, led to a certain globalisation process.
