Lancashire County Council has approved an amendment to a consent for shale gas exploration at Preston New Road, Kirkham, to allow up to nine single convoy deliveries to the site outside the regular hours. The change would give vehicles access to and from the site between 6.30pm and 7.30am on weekdays, after 12pm on Saturdays and at any time on Sundays and bank holidays. However, the vehicle movements would be limited to nine events over the remaining life of the development. One event may consist of a single vehicle or a convoy of several vehicles and may include up to 30 HGVs.
