Leiomyoma of Deep Soft Tissue: Leiomyoma of deep soft tissue is a rare, slowly growing, well-circumscribed benign neoplasm, commonly arising in the deep soft tissue of the extremities or retroperitoneum, and different parts of the abdominal cavity (in this location there is a strong predominance of female patients). Tumor cells in aspirates have morphology reminiscent of normal smooth muscle and myofibroblastic cells. An important diagnostic pitfall is low-grade leiomyosarcoma (LMS), which displays more nuclear pleomorphism and coarser chroma-tin than leiomyoma.
