Prices in the Chinese long product market are still on an upward track.After a last-week increase, exporters have not dared to keep on raisingtheir quotations but have withdrawn most offers willing to make acomeback with new prices by at least $20/t higher than the current levelsin the beginning of January. The upward policy will be supported by anexpected strengthening of demand since financing of state constructionprojects in some countries of SE Asia, including Philippines, will beresumed, as well as by favourable domestic market conditions and higheriron ore cost.
