The year 2017 has passed without bringing cheer among rubber farmers. Although the market did not witness any marked recovery during the year, there were signs of resilience. At Kuala Lumpur market, prices of SMR 20 averaged at US$ 167/100 kg during 2017, up 20% from US$ 139 realized in the previous year. Still, the uncertainty clouding the production sector persists with no end in sight.
