摘要

The Uruguayan seed industry is hopeful that ten genetically modified crops will be approved for trials this year, agricultural biotechnology association Agro-Bio reports. Chief of the Uruguayan seed chamber Daniel Bayce reportedly says ten applications for GM soybeans and maize are with the regulatory authority, the INS. They include combined insect-resistant and either glyphosate-or glufosinate-tolerant maize, and up to triple-stacked maize lines. There is also a combined glyphosate-tolerant and insect-resistant soybean application. The trials would last two years, potentially resulting in commercialisation of the country's first stacked events in 2012.
