Makhteshim-Agan Industries' (MAI) second-quarter agrochemical sales rose by 9% to $734.5 million. The increase came against 22% growth in the same period last year, which was partly due to the revenues from new businesses (Agrow No 622, p 5). Pesticide sales in the last quarter were boosted by increased crop planting in MAI's markets. The company reports record earnings for the second quarter and the first half of the year despite higher raw material costs, and a record amount of product registrations and launches.
