摘要

This article presents findings on the impact of ISO 9001:2015 and its drafting process and the purpose and benefits for implementing organizations. Because of the experience of the authors in development of the revised standard they are aware of problem areas and approaches to overcome them. The objective is to consider the standard from a business point of view for those who are responsible for implementation. The ISO 9000 series consists of three standards: 9000, 9001, and 9004. The over-emphasis on 9001 distorts the essence of the standards' objectives. Through the progressions of ISO 9001, no serious changes were proposed compared to the original. The revision in 2015 aimed at incorporating changes that have taken place in businesses and organizations. However, this objective has not materialized as expected. The article examines reasons for this and proposes methods to overcome the deficiencies of implementation.
