The European Commission has set a timetable for the withdrawal of a further 64 active ingredients that have failed to make it through the EU review of existing ais. The action has been taken because the notifying companies withdrew their support for the ais, not because of any clear indications of harmful effects, the Commission stresses. In view of this, it has decided to allow EU member states to maintain approvals until December 31st 2010, with a further year to use up existing stocks.
