A risk assessment conducted by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) concludes that there is a "negligible food safety concern" from Australia importing apples treated with the bactericide, streptomycin, in New Zealand. The assessment was carried out due to concerns over human exposure to streptomycin-resistant bacteria.
