Brazil is leading an initiative to harmonise risk analysis procedures for the approval of genetically modified crops.Scientists from Australia,Canada,Switzerland,the UK and the US,along with several international and Brazilian biotechnology companies attended workshops at the biotechnology division of the Brazilian agricultural research corporation,the Embrapa,last month.The not-for-profit food safety education and research network,International Life Sciences,and the Embrapa are co-promoting the scheme.
