摘要

During an entomological survey of the sand dune nature reserve at Ballyteige Burrow, Co. Wexford an adult Crioceris asparagi (Linnaeus) was photographed by PDB at the western end of the site on 12 July 2017 (S8907). Aware that this was a new species for Ireland BN and PDB searched some plants of wild asparagus Asparagus prostratus that grows on the site and discovered numerous larvae on a single plant (S936063). PDB retained two full-grown larvae and one of these produced an adult on 29 July confirming that the larvae were those of C. asparagi and providing a voucher for the record. The specimen will be deposited with the National Museum of Ireland, Dublin.
