A PLAN TO DIMINISH THE NIGHTLY NOISE IN A CARE FACILITY HAS EVERY PROSPECT OF GREATLY IMPROVING THE RESIDENTS' HEALTH AND COMFORT. Staff practices that interrupt resident sleep often fall into the category of, "We've always done it this way," or misinterpreted as being required in the regulations. Sleep disruption is known to interfere with residents' physical, emotional, and mental well-being, yet the practices are so ingrained in the system that staff do not think twice about why they do so.
