This globally critically endangered habitat—now reduced in size to a mere 1% to 2% of its historic range outside of Everglades National Park—is home to a diverse group of forbs and grasses. Specifically, its grasses occupy a large percentage of understory real estate, and historically served to carry fire across the connected landscape.
