摘要

Sexist attitudes have been identified as an important variable which fosters a climate of social permissiveness towards sexual violence towards women. However, its impact on social reactions to scenarios of sexual cyberviolence is unknown. This study examines whether the impact of this variable along with the victim's transgression of their gender role may condition social reactions towards this kind of technological violence in a sample of 301 university students between the ages of 18 and 27. The results point to sexist attitudes and transgression of the gender role traditionally attributed to women as predictors of negative social assessments of sexual cyberviolence; furthermore, the interaction between both factors is especially decisive in social judgements on the victims' guilt. These results complement those of previous studies on the perception of offline sexual violence and highlight the important role of sexist beliefs in negative reactions towards victims of sexual cyberviolence who may be perceived as transgressors of traditional gender roles.
