BACK IN 1975, LONG BEFORE the word design was a corporate buzzword, Bill Hannon was inspired by the unexpected challenges he had faced as a corporate design manager. That inspiration led to the creation of something entirely new - the Design Management Institute. Hannon led the organization in its early years, provided critical leadership at many key junctures in DMI's history, and served on the board of directors for 35 years - in other words, for most of DMI's existence. His retirement marked the end of an epic era for a pioneer of design leadership.
