According to a release from Port of Guangzhou, Nansha port has completed the main construction of China's largest cold storage facilities at the end of June, making it the biggest integrated logistics hub for cold and fresh produce in the country. With a planned investment of RMB 3.5 billion (US$ 500 million), the Nansha International Cold Chain project aims to increase the port's cold storage capacity to 460,000 tons. The project includes six eight-story cold storage facilities, a ground refrigerated container yard equipped with 1,880 reefer plugs, capable of holding 430 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of cargo, and a building for demonstration use.
