摘要

What are the effects of overground physical therapy gait training for chronic stroke patients with mobility deficits in terms of walking ability? A Cochrane quantitative systematic review with meta-analysis. Stroke is a common condition which can result in serious long-term disability. Following a stroke, almost two-thirds of survivors experience mobility deficits. Up to 6 months after a stroke, 30% of survivors are still unable to walk on their own. Rehabilitation, including physical therapy, is carried out with people who have had a stroke to assist in recovery, and has been shown to be effective in the first 3-6 months. Gait training is performed after stroke to improve walkingability. Overground gait training consists of observation and manipulation of a person's gait by a physical therapist, and other exercises focused on improving ambulation. It normally takes place over a regular floor surface in a variety of settings.
