Lecanorchis taiwaniana S. S. Ying {Orchidaceae) is newly recorded from India. Its taxonomic relationships with hitherto known species of the genus Lecanorchis are examined and discussed.The genus Lecanorchis Blume comprises a group of mycoheterotrophic herbs, which are characterized by the presence of rudimentary leaves and a cup-like calyculus at the summit of ovary that encircles the perianth (Seidenfaden 1978). Precise identificationof the Lecanorchis species is often difficult due to short durations of flowering periods and close similarities in morphology (Tsukaya and Okada 2013). There are over 30 species and infraspecific taxa in the genus (Honda 1931, Tuyama 1955, Hashimoto 1990, Averyanov 2005, Suddee and Pedersen 2011, Suetsugu and Fukunaga 2016). They are distributed over large area that includes China, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, India, Indonesia and New Guinea (Pearce and Cribb 1999, Szlachetko and Mytnik 2000, Cameron 2003, Chen et al.2009, Suddee et al. 2010, Averyanov 2011, Tsukaya and Okada 2013, Suetsugu et al. 2016, 2018). So far, only single species is known from India (Pearce and Cribb 1999).
