I have been managing the day-to-day operations at Piala's Nursery & Garden Shop Inc., located approximately 20 minutes southwest of Milwaukee in Waukesha, WI, for two years after the partial retirement of my parents, Jim and Cathy Piala. My parents founded Piala's Nursery & Garden Shop in 1978. They both have a great love of the outdoors and a desire to improve the environment. Jim and Cathy felt that a nursery and garden shop was a great way to share this love with the public. Their idea was simple:to provide a va-riety of quality plants and excellent customer service. They started small, with only a utility tractor and hand tools. Their objective was to supply high-quality materials that customers could pack in their car, take home and put to good use.
