The terms "carbon sequestration," "carbon footprint," "sustainability," "greenhouse gases" and "life cycle analysis" have recently appeared in the lexicon of environmental horticulture. The "green industry," as with other trade groups, is trying to assess the impacts, both positive and negative, that our activities may have on the environment. Recent proposed federal legislation on cap and trade has generated a tremendous amount of discussion and controversy from all points on the political compass.Agricultural interests and farm state senators have pushed to make sure that agricultural practices can receive carbon credits.
