Cu-Sn-Zn alloys with different solute content werecast, and the spectroscopic surface reflectance of the alloys wasanalyzed. The principal component analysis was carried out withspectra at wavelength ranging from 450nm to 650nm to obtain asub-space composed of 7 eigen vectors. The solute content of thealloy estimated with the sub-space was in good agreement with thenominal composition. At higher solute content, the estimatedvalue varied considerably. The analysis with focussed light beamconfirmed that the macrosegregation in the specimen causedvariation of data at higher solute contents.
