Wen Jiabao’s recent comments on the outlook for the Chinese and world economy at the latest party congress have created a stir. It truly was jawboning at its best, directed at a very broad domestic and international audience. To a global audience, the most important comment was the warning of a “double dip recession”. Quite simply, this translates as “the RMB will not appreciate over 2010”.
