EU regulations which came into force at the end of April seirhealth and safety rules for workers exposed to UV light. It highlights the risks arising from exposure to UV light and what is required for safe use of the light in the workplace. UV lamps are routinely used for nondestructive (NDT) crack detection, particularly within the aerospace and automotive industries. Many workers exposed to artificial UV light sources are concerned about risks to their health and safety. This is often a result of media coverage concerning the potential detrimental effects of UV light from natural sunlight and sunbeds, which has lead to widespread misinformation and misunderstanding regarding UV light exposure in the workplace.
