The DBR suite's main platform, the DDG 1000, has been canceled due to major cost inflation, partly due to the price of the DBR. The AMDR has replaced the DBR as the future of AEGIS-level naval air and missile defense. The AMDR will replace the radar systems of the venerable AEGIS BMD, sailing well into the 2030s. The Dual-Band Radar (DBR) suite is made up of the Raytheon-produced SPY-3 X-band Multi-Function Radar (MFR) and a Lockheed Martin-produced S-band volume surveillance radar (VSR). The system is arranged in a compound active phased-array setup for shipbome air and missile defense. The developmental Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR) suite will replace the radars on board the U.S. Navy's AEGIS Weapon System-equipped vessels. The AMDR suite is composed of two separate radar requirements, the AMDR-S S-band radar and the AMDR-X X-band radar. Raytheon will produce the AMDR-S system, while the manufacturer for the AMDR-X has yet to be chosen. In the interim, the initial AMDR suites will be built using Northrop Grumman's SPQ-9B in the AMDR-X's role.
