Epidermolysis bullosa is an inherited group of bullous skin disorders characterised by a recurrent blistering-scarring cycle leading to severe neck, face and oral contractures that can complicate airway management. Life expectancy for epidermolysis bullosa sufferers has improved greatly, and adult patients may undergo multiple anaesthetic procedures. Our case series describes airway complications encountered in adult epidermolysis bullosa sufferers undergoing anaesthesia in the period 1996-2006.
