摘要

In a 40Gb/s-based WDM transmission, the modulation format on the optical data signals plays an important role for avoiding the fiber-nonlinearity induced waveform distortion. In this paper, the performances of three modulation format, which are NRZ, RZ, and CS-RZ (carrier-suppressed RZ), were experimentally investigated in a 40Gb/s-based 100GHz-spacing dense WDM transmission over 480-km standard SMF. The 1.GTb/s of 40×40Gb/s WDM transmission experiment employing the CS-RZ modulation format was also demonstrated to confirm the feasibility of CS-RZ in a high capacity WDM transmission.
