摘要

Little is known about the structures of alkylrubidium and -cesium derivatives. The unsolvated methyl compounds crystallize with ionic lattices comprising Rb~+ or Cs~+ ions and pyramidal Me ~ ions. Pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (pmdta) derivatives MR(pmdta) form linear polymers (R = CPh_3, M = Rb, Cs) or dimers (R = CH(SiMe_3)_2, M = Rb), and the yellow tris(trimethylsilyl)silyl compounds crystallize as dimeric toluene solvates. We have now shown that tris(trimethylsilyl)methylrubidium (1) and -cesium(2) may be obtained by metalation of HC(-SiMe_3)_3 with the now readily available methylmetal derivatives (prepared in situ in a slightly modified version of the original synthesis, from methyllithium and the ether-soluble alkali metal 2-ethylhexoxides)Although both compounds are exceedingly air and moisture sensitive, crystals suitable for X-ray diffraction studies were obtained.
