Litter fall and leaf litter accumulation studies in Shorea robusta (Sal) dominated forest of Doon Valley were conducted at Lacchiwala, Raipur and Barkot Ranges of Dehra Dun Forest Division during 2002-2003 from March to June. The study was done to find out the litter accumulation on forest floor as a source of forest fire. Maximum litter was observed in case of unburnt areas than burnt in all three sites. Lacchiwala site was found to be the richest in litter accumulation in the month of April i.e. 9.35 kg per quadrate (5 X 5 m~2)and minimum in Barkot range. The litter accumulation was found minimum in month of March in the both cases (burnt and unburnt) in all three sites in the year 2002 and 2003 but exceptionally the maximum litter was found in the case of Raipur and Barkot range in the month of June.
