摘要

In the past 30 years, notable progress has been made in the development of behavioral strategies for weight control. However, most of the studies during this time have consisted largely of women. Between 1999 and 2009, there were 244 behavioral weight control studies with 95,207 participants of whom 73 % were women [1]. Perhaps unintentionally, the strategies and delivery mechanisms developed since the 1980s have appealed predominantly to women. With similar obesity prevalence among men as for women [2] and higher rates of disease-associated abdominal obesity among men [3], clearly more work is needed to address the gender gap in behavioral obesity research.
