摘要

It is widely accepted in nature circles that the howler monkey (Alouatta sp.) is the loudest mammal in the cloud forest. This was true until this past July, when members of our education department guided ten area teachers to Costa Rica on a professional development project. Howler monkeys are now a distant second in that category. But more on that later. The theme of our teacher workshop abroad was biodiversity, with Lankester Botanical Garden, with its thousands of species of orchids in its collections, as the first stop. Teachers recorded this vast flora collection to prepare photographic resources for classroom study about biodiversity.
