摘要

This study was conducted during 1999/2000 and 2000/01 to determine the influence of different irrigation water sources (sewage water, agricultural drainage water, groundwater and Nile water) on the heavy metal (Cd, Pb, Ni and Co) contents of two soil types (heavy and light soils; silty clay loam and loamy sand, respectively) in a maize and wheat field in Egypt. All of the studied heavy metals were highly accumulated in the heavy soil in both maize and wheat fields. The accumulation percentage ranged from 1.66 to 1.70% in the heavy soil and from 0.59 to 0.61% in the light soil of the maize and wheat fields, respectively. The mean accumulation percentage of almost all the studied heavy metals in soil decreased according to irrigation water sources: sewage water > agricultural drainage water > groundwater > Nile water. The accumulation and concentration of the heavy metals were in the following order: Pb > Ni > Co > Cd. The accumulation percentage of Cd, Pb, Ni and Co was relatively higher in the wheat field than in the maize field. All the studied metals were below the toxic limits for agricultural soil except for the heavy soil irrigated with sewage water, which contained the highest amount of Pb..
