Arunachal Pradesh is the largest hilly state in the Northeastern region located bet between 26°39' N latitude and 91°35' to 97°27' East longitude with elevation range from 250 - 7090 meter msl. It's undulating topography and varied agro climatic condition has vast potential for cultivation of tropical, subtropical and temperate fruits. Presence of peach plants in mid altitude of Arunachal Pradesh favours its commercial cultivation in this state. Suitable varieties of peach for different agro climatic region were reported by Chanana et al. 1992 for subtropical climate of Punjab and Nijjar (1973) for North Indian plains. But no systematic effort have been made so far to find out suitable high yielding cultivar although peaches have good potential in mid altitude of Arunachal Pradesh but existing local varieties are of inferior type. Thus peach productivity can be increased by introduction of superior variety. Therefore, an attempt was made to find out suitable varieties for mid altitude of Arunachal Pradesh.
