Current infotainment systems leave a lot to be desired. User interfaces for car infotainment systems have come a long way in the last 10 years, continually adding new features and capabilities. That's the good news. But motorists (the users doing the interfacing) aren't that impressed. Recent studies show marginal satisfaction rates for built-in units as well as smartphone mirroring technologies such as Apple CarPlay and Google's Android Auto system. "People aren't happy with their infotainment systems," attests Voratima Orawannukul, principal user experience engineer-advanced development for Mitsubishi Electric. "There's a lot of room for improvement."
