On July 18, President Trump announced via Twitter his intent to nominate Gene Scalia, the son of deceased Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, for Secretary of Labor, the post just vacated by Alexander Acosta amid a growing uproar over his part in the deal that now-indicted Jeffrey Epstein was given more than a decade ago for his alleged coercion and trafficking of underage girls for sex. "Gene has led a life of great success in the legal and labor field and is highly respected not only as a lawyer, but as a lawyer with great experience working with labor and everyone else," Trump said on Twitter. "He will be a great member of an Administration that has done more in the first 2 1/2 years than perhaps any Administration in history!"
