The dosimetric parameters for characterization of a low-energy interstitial brachytherapy source I-125 are examined. In this work, the radial dose function, g(r), anisotropy function F(r,theta), and the absolute dose rate, Lambda, around I-125 seed model 6711 have been estimated by means of the PENELOPE Monte-Carlo (MC) simulation code. The results obtained are in good agreement with the corresponding values recommended by TG-43 that are based in experimental and MC published results. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
