Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer and is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, exceeded only by lung cancer.2 The American Cancer Society estimates that approximately 192,200 new breast cancer cases will be diagnosed and more than 40,000 deaths will occur in 2001.2 Early and accurate detection is therefore important for better prognosis and therapy of breast cancer.
