At the 43rd Annual General Meeting of Colour-Chem Limited held in Mumbai on 28th September 2000, the Chairman of the company's Board of Directors, Dr.Ulrich Cuntze was happy and felt that all would agree that the performance of the company has been very satisfactory during the financial year 1999-2000. The company had already declared an interim dividend of 65%. During the course of his introductory remark, the Chairman indicated that net sales for the first five months of the current financial year has improved by about five per cent over the corresponding period of the previous year. With the substantial increase in the prices of petroleum products internationally, and the consequential adverse effect on the Indian economy, there will inevitably be greater pressure on margins. The Company, as he stated, is however hopeful that the sales performance of all its Divisions will improve further in the remainder of the year and several measures to improve profitability in the wake of rising prices have already been put into place.
