This study deals with the preparation of two hybridorganic-inorganic matrices via sol-gel, starting fromalkylalkoxisilanes Si(CH_3)(OCH_2CH_3)_3 (MTFOS)-SiH(CH_3)(OCH_2CH_3)_2 (MDFS), A system, andSiH(CH_3)(OCH_2CH_3)_2 (MDIIS) SiH(OCH_2CH_3)_3(FREOS), B system, together with zirconium n-prodoxide.Another type-A is carried out by adding acetylacetone, A-acac sys-tem. The matrices are characterised by infrared spectroscopy,nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR-MAS), and chemical analysis.Optical characteristics of the matrices have been studied. A-acacand B matrices are doped with an Fu(IJT) salt, and A and Bmatrices are doped with a Ce(JV) salt. Absorption and emissionstudies show the presence of Fu(TI) and Ce(IJT). The transitionmetal alkoxide that catalysed cleavage of the Si-H bonds was usedto reduce in situ at room temperature, the rare earth cations.Depending on chemical strategy, the resulting hybrid materials canbe processed as transparent bulks or coatings which exhibit a goodtransparency in the UV-visible domain. Both the undoped and therare earth doped matrices exhibit a strong blue emission.
