Development of the Caspian Sea's Kashagan field and expansion of Tengiz operations will be the keys to raising domestic crude and condensate output 24.5 from 2017's 1.731MM b/d. Last year's production was 10.5 higher than 2016's, largely thanks to Kashagan ramping up to around 250K b/d by the end of the year. Tengiz output was just over 562K b/d last year, but Chevron is expected to push it past 822K b/d by 2022. Lukoil-already active in Russian Caspian fields-has expressed interest in 2 Kazakh blocks in the Caspian Sea. The company is also participating in two joint Caspian projects between Russia and Kazakhstan, but legislative drawbacks have caused multi-year delays for them.
