Sources say the India' oil marketing companies have finalized record purchases of 720MM L (4.4MM bbl) of ethanol, allowing them to reach the country's 5% blending target for the first time. The ethanol, which sold for 56-60￠/L, is expected to reduce the $20B annual price tag the country pays for fuel imports by $1B. The oil marketing companies have already taken possession of about 230MM L (1.4MM bbl) of ethanol.
