Tuberculosis is still a public health problem worldwide. The World Health Organization estimates that each year, more than 8 million new cases of tuberculosis occur, 7.6 million originate in Third World countries and 400,000 in First World countries, and nearly 3 million persons die of the disease.They estimate that between 19% and 43% of the world's population is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis.Impairment of bone and joints represents between 3% and 5% of all cases of tuberculosis, which corresponds to 15% of extrapulmonary tuberculosis. The spine and weight-bearing joints are affected more frequently. The chest cage is an infrequent location for tuberculosis and stands for 1% to 5% of all cases of tuberculosis in bone and joints. Just a few cases of sternum tuberculosis have been reported in literature (Table 1). We reported a case from a 17-year-old patient with bony tuberculosis in the sternum, with no evidence of lung affection.
