Dietary intake of the fatty acids (FAs) omega-3 and omega-6 was associated with opposing effects in severity of childhood asthma and susceptibility to environmental pollutants, suggests the AsthmaDIET study. "These results highlight that this highly vulnerable and at-risk population has potentially two modifiable exposures (unfavourable FA intake profiles and high indoor PM* exposures) combining to effectively worsen asthma morbidity," said the researchers.
