The Designated National Authority(DNA)of the United Arab Emirates(UAE),which was set up to put into effect the clean development mechanism(CDM)envisaged under the Kyoto Protocol,has approved five projects for reducing carbon gas emissions in the oil and gas sector.This is one of the first steps for obtaining certified emissions reduction(CER)"credits"prior to registration with the United Nations.
