VALKYRIES PETROLEUM CORPORA-tion has acquired a 70% interest in the Lagansky block,located offshore in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea,from Mintley(Caspian)in a 28.5 million transaction.The concession is adjacent to the onshore Caspian field project,in the Kalmykia Republic,which Valkyries Petroleum operates.Situated in the shallow waters of the Central Caspian Basin,the 2000km~2 Lagansky block is on a structural trend that includes the offshore Rakushechnoye and Yuri Korchigan fields,currently under appraisal and development by Lukoil.
