Urban salinity investigation and management is a rapidly evolving field. Present best practice should involve the use of soil and groundwater sampling, careful selection of analytical methods, comparison with appropriate standards such as AS 2159 -1995 Piling Design and Installation and consideration of how salt levels and groundwater might change in the future. Sharing of experiences and knowledge help to ensure all developments are subject to the same conditions of assessment and construction while providing adequate protection to future generations of land owners and asset managers.
