摘要

When my husband and I retired to the south coast village of Potato Point -midway between Moruya and Narooma - we built a home on a double headland block. The block is on a very old dune, with headland bedrock some 2m below. The house is sheltered fromthe prevailing summer nor-easterlies, but very much exposed to the south and south east. Firstly, I looked around the neighbouring headlands to see what species grew locally and how the exposure affected them and made my initial list of likely plants. Thereafter, anything that looked grey and tough and hairy was given a trial. Though I tried to stick to Australian plants, I did put in some exotics to provide some variety.
