摘要

In South Australia the genera within Santalaceae are Anthobolus, Choretrum, Exocarpus, Leptomeria and Santalum. All these have minute leaves (often scales), rarely exceeding 5-7 mm with the exception of Santalum, where leaves are usually 5-7 cms. Santalum is represented in South Australia by four species, these being Santalum acuminatum, S. lanceolatum, S. spicatum and S. murrayanum. Of these, the native peach is 'Urti' to the northern South Australian Aboriginals. The popular word 'Quandong', has been anglicised from the NSW Aboriginals, who, back in the 1840's, knew it as 'Quandang'.
